                      David Getoff Speaks About Detoxification

                      Published by Angela Pettera

                      Detox concept with green vegetables

david getoffDavid Getoff, a certified Clinical Nutritionist and the Vice President of the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation, spoke at the 47th annual Cancer Convention at the Glendale Hilton. He took the audience through the proper steps of detoxification.

Most of us need to remove or reduce poisons that have built up in our bodies over time from exposure to new carpeting, chlorinated water, fluoride in toothpaste, and aluminum salts in anti-perspirant, not to mention from eating foods treated with pesticides, meat from animals given antibiotics, fish with high mercury levels, corn that’s been genetically modified, and drinking diet drinks with aspartame or sucralose.

Lemon with white straw and mint. The liver and the kidneys are the main detoxifying organs in the body, Getoff explained, and must be cleansed first. It may take months to properly clean the liver and kidneys, but this process should not be rushed. He doesn’t believe in drastic cleanses because they can overload your system and stress your entire body. He never recommends pushing through a Herxheimer reaction—severe systemic inflammation caused by a massive die-off of harmful microorganisms. It means you are moving too quickly with your detox regimen and need to slow down so as not to damage your organs.

Once the liver and kidneys are properly cleansed, you can begin the process of chelation: binding toxic substances and flushing them out of your body. He recommends liver and kidney cleansing products which can be found on the website elitealternatives.net. He advises his patients to undergo applied kinesiology, or muscle testing, as it’s the most accurate way to determine which toxins have built up the most in your body. Once you know which toxins to target first, you can begin to search for appropriate binding and mobilizing agents such as activated charcoal, mineral water, or even coffee enemas.
